PERPETRATOR/BATTERER: Domestic Violence Programming: ACS follows a 100% accountability model, offering comprehensive clinical services for perpetrators of domestic violence, along with victim services.
General Outpatient Program (GOP): Clients attend monthly individual sessions and one psycho-educational or psychotherapeutic processing group sessions weekly. The DV GOP Program begins with an eight-week Anger Management Psycho-educational Class. The client then attends 16 weeks of a DV psychotherapeutic processing group. GOP is typically 24 weeks in length and has six four-week levels for clients to progress through.
Short Term Outpatient Program (STOP): Clients attend bi-monthly individual sessions and one psycho-educational or psychotherapeutic processing group sessions weekly. The DV STOP Program begins with an eight-week Anger Management Psycho-educational Class. The client then attends eight weeks of a DV psychotherapeutic processing group. STOP is typically 16 weeks in length and has four four-week levels for clients to progress through.
Anger Management Class: The anger management program is a comprehensive accountability-based eight-week program providing information and skill development on the time-out process, communication skills, and problem solving. The course is an early intervention program (EIP) designed for adults who have used abuse, anger, aggression, violence or other power and control tactics to resolve problems. ACS believes that anger is never a good excuse for bad behavior. The anger management programming encourages accountability, healthy boundaries, self-worth, empathy, healing and hope. Students are assigned homework to complete each week reflecting on the concepts taught and discussed in class, and the curriculum includes the following: thinking errors, rational emotive behavioral theory, anger as a secondary emotion, taking a time-out, Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, cycles of joy and misery, and levels of moral behavior. Clients attend a 30-minute Case Management session to end the class, or they are oriented to the next phase of their program. Cost: $280
VICTIM/WOMEN’S ISSUES: ACS licensed therapists are trained in counseling with victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other forms of abuse. Victim treatment focuses on understanding and coping with post traumatic stress disorder, self-concept after offense, allowing yourself time to heal, and other individually based goals as needed by the client.
